In her interview with the newspaper, Ms Begum, who married an IS fighter, showed little remorse for her involvement with the terror group, saying she was not fazed by seeing “beheaded heads” in bins. “I don’t regret coming here,” she told Times journalist Anthony Loyd, who found her in the camp. “I’m not the same silly little 15-year-old schoolgirl who ran away from Bethnal Green four years ago.” Media playback is unsupported on your device Media captionAnthony Loyd of the Times describes how he found Shamima Begum in a Syrian refugee camp “The caliphate is over. Visited This Museum Recently? You May Have Been Exposed To Radiation

For nearly two decades, visitors to the Grand Canyon Museum Collection may have been unknowingly exposed to unsafe levels of radiation, according to a new report by the Arizona Republic.  A “rogue” email sent on February 4 by the park’s safety, health, and wellness manager Elston Stephenson alleges nothing was done to warn visitors or workers of previous exposure to unsafe levels of radiation after three 5-gallon buckets containing uranium ore were found (and subsequently removed) by federal officials from the collections museum. In the email, the manager alleges the cover-up was a “top management failure”, further warning of possible health consequences from the radiation exposure. “If you were in the Museum Collections Building (2C) between the year 2000 and June 18, …

School threat system fields thousands of tips in first month

HARRISBURG, Pa. – A threat reporting system now required for all Pennsylvania schools fielded more than 4,900 tips in its first month, about a third of them considered serious enough to pass along to local police and school officials. The goal of the Safe 2 Say Something program, which funnels tips to an around-the-clock call center at the attorney general’s headquarters in Harrisburg, is to respond to troubling behavior, unsafe school situations and anything else tipsters deems appropriate to report. FDA Vows To Strengthen Oversight Of Multibillion-Dollar Dietary Supplement Industry

The Female Reproductive System Is Like An Obstacle Course For Sperm

It ain’t easy being a sperm. Each load of semen in humans contains between 60 million to 100 million sperm – but there’s only one mature egg per cycle. To weed out the weak sperm and source only the best-of-the-best, the female reproductive tract is essentially an assault course, rigged with obstacles and booby traps. Ultimately, there can be only one winner.  Reporting in the journal Science Advances, scientists at Cornell University in New York have detailed how sperm navigate the structure of the female reproductive tract. They discovered a series of microchannels and tight spots (also called strictures) inside the female reproductive tract that were developed to encourage fierce competition between sperm, ensuring only the most nimble and able make it to …

That means the humanity is sometimes a little lost. But what’s it really like to be a full-time caregiver? That’s a question best answered by the people who’ve been there working tirelessly …
