    1. You have to remember that GITS doesn’t have a singular cannon story line. The original anime movies is much different from the anime series, and the live action movie takes cuts from memorable scenes in both.

    2. Skyfoogle the anime is set in japan but the movie is set in Hong kong but the story is still set in japan

    1. Thrasher Ghost: “Let’s be honest: Asians are not too good in acting”
Sorry for necro posting but how come this racist and ignorance get so many upvotes? Have you ever watched any foreign movies, not just Asian? Unless you live under a rock everybody knows that in Hollywood movies it’s very common to see black characters die first, or Asian characters being minor and having very little screen time. Basically all the best opportunities are commonly reserved for white actors and actresses, cause they think that would be easier to the general audience to get into. Open your eyes…

    2. you know the creator of ghost in the shell said that the character wasn’t even originally asian right

  1. 1:01 The scene when Makoto kiss the hooker is in the movie? I remember when she touches the girl’s face but i don’t remember when she kisses her.

    1. In the movie theater version I watched, they kissed. In the amazon movie I downloaded, they didn’t. It seems it’s been censored from certain versions.

    2. Ghost in the shell has nearly nothing to do with romance or even really sex. It is more a commentary on modern life applied to a futuristic scenario. Personally I am glad they removed it when I watched because it would have been way to weird, and not in the good psychological horror sense. As in it doesn’t fit at all.

    3. Literally the only reason you’re saying it’s weird is because you’re homophobic, please don’t try to hide that.

  2. Don’t care what people said. I really enjoy the movie. If you want to see any movie Don’t let people discourage you.

    1. RaionOkami i doo agree Strongly, i enjoyed, i loved this, and scarlet fits this perfectly, all main actors fits perfectly

    2. RaionOkami Yeah. I seen movies where people hated them and really didn’t get much people to see it because people loved to go around telling people their opinion on the movie.

  3. watching this trailer in the cinema a week before seeing it – looks like the worst movie ever omg
watching the movie a week later – OHMYWORD THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER

    1. yea I cant tell the difference between it and under the skin, lost in translation, or the prestige

  4. It was a great film, the SJW jerks went on a modern day witch trial with their false claim of white washing. The film was respectful of Japan.

  5. my advice IGNORE the haters and experts and go watch the movie its a visual marvel.. even better if you have watched the original.. Scarlet Johannson portrays the anime character perfectly

  6. I love how people are offended at the “white washing” when the creator isn’t upset. It was a good movie. Not great, but good. So, instead of virtue signaling, let us look at the film for what it is…

    1. The original Anime character does not show clear and distinctive racial feature, just like any Anime character. So there is no clear indication that there has been any white washing.

    2. Look, the original was made in Japan, so the main character was Japanese. This movie was made in the US, so the main character was made American.

    1. Yeah the movie shelling sequence music is an original composition, they don’t use the Kenji Kawai song.

  7. the Major isn’t Japanese, she is a mass produced Shell. Her Ghost (Motoko Kusanagi) is Japanese. THIS MOVIE IS NOT WHITEWASHED. The people who have ridiculed this film and claimed it has been “whitewashed” clearly HAVE NOT seen the anime at all, and are just making some petty social justice statements to tear down a brilliant film they know nothing about. Scarlett Johansson portrayed the Major perfectly, the film is visually stunning and yes it may lack story wise, but it still tries to stay true to the anime.
at least give it a chance, and don’t slander it without having any background knowledge on the franchise, it’s idiotic.

  8. Just watched the movie – it was really good! Visually it was amazing, and Scarlett Johansson did a great job as Major. Anyone who is on the edge about seeing it, definitely go!!
